My Favorite Uncle

Uncle Roy was my favorite uncle! Although he was only a few years younger than my Dad, his brother Jack, to me he seemed to be a whole generation younger. Uncle Roy was always young at heart, even in his later years. Family legend says that Uncle Roy saved me from drowning when I was 4 or 5 years old while swimming in a creek near Mountainburg. I don't remember much about it except that I was under water over my head and he rushed in to pull me out. One of my fondest memories of Uncle Roy was when he took my brother and I to see the Los Angeles Dodgers play shortly after they moved from Brooklyn to Los Angeles. The game was in the LA Coliseum and we sat behind the tall screen in left field, which at the time was a special treat. For me, Uncle Roy was a fun guy to be around and I will always treasure the memories of my favorite uncle.
