Obituary for Terry Ransom

Terry  Ransom
Terry Ransom, 65, of Van Buren, Arkansas passed away Friday, March 31, 2017 in a Little Rock hospital. He served in the U.S. National Guard from 1970 until 1976. He worked at Armbruster Stageway from 1974 until 1989; at Federal Coach Company from 1989 until 2009; he co-owned Hot Off The Press Newsstand for 19 years.

Terry graduated from Northside High School in 1969. He is a member of Butterfield Assembly of God Church, where he was involved in Missions programs, which included the Current Outreach Ministry and the Butterfield RV ministry for families that needed uplifting through fellowship due to hard circumstances in their life. He was preceded in death by his father, George Ransom. Terry was all about Truth, Integrity, and Honesty. He loved boating, fishing, and golf. He built and raced stock cars on dirt and asphalt from 1970 until 1985. He also built show cars of different types over the years.

Funeral service will be 11 AM Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at Butterfield Assembly of God Church with Patrick Kimberland officiating and eulogy by Kevin Hardcastle. Burial will be at Woodlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Fort Smith, Arkansas under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home in Van Buren, Arkansas.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Carol Ransom; a son, Grant Ransom and wife Melanie of Edmond, Oklahoma, his mother, Kathryn Ransom of Van Buren; two grandchildren, Emersyn Ransom and Maddox Ransom; two sisters-in-laws, Brenda Basham and husband, Elbert of Van Buren and Pat Miller and husband, Robert of Hackett; two nieces, Michelle Ferguson and Nan Peters; a nephew, Jeff Bell; several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Lewis Harris, Gary King, J.R. Smith, Branson Harris, Jason Kimes and Tim Mays.

The family will visit with relatives and friends Monday, April 3, 2017 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at Ocker Funeral Home, 700 Jefferson Street, Van Buren, Arkansas.
