The Nature of Things

I always remerber knowing who Lowell Barnes was. As a child listening to grown-ups talk about thing, if you

needed somthing done or moved, Lowell was the man to call, if he could not do it he knew a man that could.

Years later, I ran into Lowell again through horse riding friends. We were a large group that often made  horse camping trips together along the upper lee creek watershed. Many wonderful days, weekends and hundreds of miles went by. Lowell was in his sixties in good health and what an eye for a good horse he had. He semed to sense thier nature and intent instinctivily, that goes for people too. As I spent more and more time with him and his friends, I began to notice it wasn't just horses he understood but the seasons, weather and the lay of the land. He was a woodsman of the first degree, loved a good hunting dog, was man's man and knew how to treat a lady.

I am greatful for the time and knowledge, joy of life and fellowship Lowell shared with me, my friends and family.
