Gerald L.   Geren
Gerald L. Geren, 82 of Fort Smith, Arkansas passed away on Wednesday, October 1, 2014 in a local hospital. He was born on July 2, 1932 in the White Bluff Community to Leo and Beulah (Holabaugh) Geren. He was retired from Dixie Cup where he was a maintenance mechanic for 38 years. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and served in the Korean War. He was an avid golfer and devoted family man. He was a member of Oak Cliff Baptist Church and was preceded in death by his brother Donald Geren.
Funeral Services will be 10:30AM, Monday, October 6, 2014 at Oak Cliff Baptist Church with burial to follow in the U.S. National Cemetery under the direction of Ocker-Putman Funeral Home of Fort Smith, Arkansas.
He is survived by his wife Inita of the home, one daughter, Stacy Thames and her husband Kenny of Greenwood, AR; one son, Dennis Geren and his wife Jennifer of Fort Smith, AR; two sisters, Marcia Ware of Greenwood, AR and Barbara Neece of Fort Smith, AR; one brother, Allen Geren of Fort Smith, AR; five grandchildren, Lindsay and Hunter Johnson of Van Buren, AR, Sara Martin and her husband Kyle of Fort Smith, AR, Logan Kersey and his wife Jessica of Bentonville, AR and Kayla Thames of Fayetteville, AR and two great grandchildren, Conner Ryan and Liam Kersey.
Pallbearers are Jim Cox, Darrell Taylor, Don Spradling, Hunter Johnson, Eric Ryan, Logan Kersey and Kyle Martin.
Honorary Pallbearers are Bill Inklebarger, Bill Powell and Jim Hatchett
The family will visit with friends from 2-4 on Sunday, October 5th at the funeral home.
