John Doyle Samples, 84, of Maricopa, Arizona passed away Saturday, April 9, 2016 In a hospital in Arizona. He was retired from Arkhola Sand and Gravel Company in Fort Smith, Arkansas and was a U.S.. Army Veteran during the Korean Conflict, and a member of the Church of God 7th Day in Mesa, Arizona. He was a resident of Crawford County for over 79 years. He was preceded in death by both parents, James Ezekiel and Viva (Osgood) Samples: One sister, and three brothers.

Funeral service will be at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at Ocker Memorial Chapel with burial at Gill Cemetery in Van Buren, Arkansas under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home in Van Buren, Arkansas.

He is survived by his wife Dorothy (Slusher) Samples of the home; a daughter Marita Reese and husband Don of Maricopa, Arizona; and son John Anson Samples of Chatfield, Texas; two sisters Louise Woods of Van Buren and Betty Younger of Roland, Oklahoma; and one grandchild Marilyn Reese of Maricopa, Arizona.

Pallbearers will be L.D. Hallmark, Johnny Hallmark, Terry Younger, Mitch Whitfield, Josh Woods, Jeremy Woods and Matthew Sanders.

Honorary pallbearers will be Richard Marion and Thurman Williams.

The family will visit with relatives and friends Tuesday April 19, 2016 from 6;00 to 8:00 PM at Ocker Funeral Home, 700 Jefferson Street, Van Buren, Arkansas.
