Melba L. Goodin, 82, of Fort Smith, Arkansas passed away on Tuesday, November 10, 2015 in a local hospital. She was born on December 3, 1932 in Midland, Arkansas to Marshall and Mae (Oliver) Fitzgerald. She was retired from the small appliances department of General Electric. She was a member of Haven Heights Baptist Church and was in the Pastor’s Sunday School Class, a member of Eastern Star and the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. She was preceded in death by her husband James Goodin and by her grandson, Stephen “Bubba” Kincaid.
Funeral services will be 10:00 AM, Monday, November 16, 2015 at Ocker-Putman Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the U.S. National Cemetery.
She is survived by two daughters, Sue Byrd and her husband Brad of Van Buren, AR and Joyce Miller and her husband Tony of Arlington, TX; one son, James “Jim” Goodin and his wife Audrey of Fort Smith, AR; two sisters, Jo Ann Carlile of Fort Smith, AR and Lorene Britt of Jenny Lind, AR; 13 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
Pallbearers are Bryan Hopkins, Ryan Beadle, Jarrod Parker, Chris Doyel, Tommy Goodin and Terry Madden.
The family will visit with friends from 2-4PM on Sunday, November 15th at the funeral home.
