Doris Mikel Fulbright, 86, of Fort Smith, passed away Friday, May 22, 2015, in a local hospital. She was born January 4, 1929, in Fort Smith to Richard and Florence Stroud. She is preceded in death by her first husband, Lyman L. Mikel, former Sebastian County Prosecuting Attorney and her second husband Harry J Fulbright; her parents, Richard and Florence Stroud; one ten year old brother, Dickey and two young sisters, Lera and Vera.

She was retired from the Sebastian County Judge's Office, having worked for four different county judges. She was a member of First Christian Church, where she lovingly worked in the preschool nursery for twenty years. Doris cherished spending time with her family, enjoyed gardening, going to movies and antique shopping. She loved flowers, especially Irises and appreciated the beauty of trees and nature.

Doris is survived by her three children: Richard Mikel and wife Laurice of Alma; Kelsey Mikel and wife Brenda of Bloomer, and Karla Pittman and husband Barry of Fort Smith; two sisters, Joan Douglas of Fort Smith and Carol Engel and husband Alan of Orland Park, IL; eight grandchildren, Kirsten Glidewell, Chase Mikel, Cassie Mikel, Karri Burkhart and husband Justin, Chris Mikel, Robert Mikel, Stephanie Morris and husband Jon, and Jonathan Pittman; eight great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Doris shared a special bond with her two sisters her entire life. She had a very close, loving family and will be greatly missed.

Funeral Service will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday May 26, 2015 at First Christian Church, Fort Smith, with Rev. Randy Jay officiating. Burial will be in Jenny Lind Cemetery, Jenny Lind, AR, under the direction of Ocker-Putman Funeral Home, Fort Smith.

Pallbearers will be Chris Mikel, Robert Mikel, Chase Mikel, Jonathan Pittman, Ted Stiles, Gordon Briggs, Steve Briggs, Jon Morris and Justin Burkhart.

Visitation will be 5:30-7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Ocker Putman Funeral Home, Fort Smith.
