Charles Andrew “Bud” Phipps of Van Buren, Arkansas departed this life May 1, 2015. Bud was 70 years old. He was born in Des Moines, Iowa on June 3, 1944. Bud is survived by one brother, Larry and his wife, Virginia of Mansfield, Arkansas, along with several nieces and nephews and other family and friends.

Funeral will be at 10 AM Tuesday, May 5, 2015 at Ocker Memorial Chapel in Van Buren with Reverend John Noggle officiating with burial at Gracelawn Memorial Park under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home in Van Buren, Arkansas

Bud grew up in Des Moines, Iowa and after graduating from Tech High School, he worked for Hiland Pastry Shop as a baker. He moved to Van Buren, Arkansas in 1973 and was co/owner of P & R Sweet Shop in Fort Smith. After the bakery closed in 1984 he went to work for Forsgren in Fort Smith. He retired from Forsgren in 2014.

Bud is preceded in death by his wife, Verdella Phipps; his parents, Doris & Lawrence Phipps; his sister and brother-in-law, JoAn & Donald Reeves.

Bud loved the outdoors, keeping care of his acreage, boating, fishing and going to the deer woods with his brother and friends.

Pallbearers will be Daniel Reeves, Domin Reeves, Billy Moore, Ted Phipps and Mitchell Steudeman.

The family will visit with relatives and friends from 6-8 PM Monday May 4, 2015 at Ocker Funeral Home, 700 Jefferson Street, Van Buren, Arkansas.
