Hildred Duane Mendenhall, 73, of Fort Smith, Arkansas passed away on Thursday, December 18, 2014 in his home. He was born on September 29, 1941 in Fort Smith, Arkansas to Leaman and Ethel Dee (Stafford) Mendenhall. He was a veteran of the Army, Navy and Air Force and ended his 37 year military career in the Army National Guard as the Lt. Colonel Commander of the 142 Field Artillery, 2nd Battalion. He also retired after 35 years as an installation repairman for S.W. Bell. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and was preceded in death by his former wife Catherine Mendenhall. He was a 32 degree Mason, a reservist for the Sebastian County Sheriff’s Department and a member of the Fort Smith Flying Club

Presentation will be at 10:00 AM Monday, December 22, 2014 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints with the funeral service to follow at 11:00AM, following the service burial with military honors will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Ocker-Putman Funeral Home of Fort Smith, Arkansas.

He is survived by his wife Pamela of the home, two daughters, Melinda Harvey of Fort Smith, AR and Cassandra Duffin and her husband Yancy of Van Buren, AR; three sons, Sherman Mendenhall of Fort Smith, AR, Leaman Mendenhall of Greenwood, AR and Jason Mendenhall of Fort Smith, AR; two step daughters, Angie Buckner and her husband James and Shelly Reed and her husband Steve both of Kiowa, OK; two step sons, Robert Allen Long and his wife Summer of McAlester, OK and Chris Richmond and his wife Christy of Gowen, OK; two brothers, Charles Mendenhall and his wife Kaye of Bonanza, AR and Donald Mendenhall and his wife Jeannie of Van Buren, AR; his mother in law, Lucille Bickle of McAlester, OK; 14 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

Pallbearers are Robert Long, Chris Richman, Richard Black, Kevin Mann, Corey Prody and Hiram Bradshaw.

Honorary pallbearers are J.D. Van Matre, Mike Stevenson, Donnie Brown and James Neal.

The family will visit with friends from 2:00-4:00 P.M. on Sunday, December 21, 2014 at Ocker-Putman Funeral Home of Fort Smith, AR
