Obituary for Robert Douglas "Poppy Doug" Canady

Robert Douglas Canady, 77, of Cedarville, Arkansas passed away Saturday, November 1, 2014 in a local nursing home. He was a retired school bus driver for the Cedarville School District and a retired truck driver. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Minnie Brown Canady; and a sister Veta Penland.

Funeral service will be at 1 PM Tuesday, November 4, 2014 at Ocker Memorial Chapel in Van Buren with burial at Hall Cemetery in Natural Dam under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home in Van Buren.

Survivors are two daughters, Sherry King of Barling and Teresa Harris of Cedarville; one son Richard Canady of St Paul, Arkansas; two sisters, Carmen Gaines of Ozark and Ouita Mainard of Cecil, Arkansas; one brother, Monte Canady of Ozark, Arkansas ; six grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Monte Canady, Jr, Mark Canady, Paul Stacy, Kent King, Mike McCabe and Leonard Skinner.

Honorary pallbearers will be Tony Atwell and the Cedarville School bus drivers.

The family will visit with relatives and friends Monday, November 3, 2014 from 6 to 8 PM at Ocker Funeral Home, 700 Jefferson Street, Van Buren, Arkansas.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Robert Canady Funeral Fund at Ocker Funeral Home, P.O. Box 5620, Van Buren, Arkansas 72957.
