Patti Gayle Smith Nichols, 48, of Lavaca, Arkansas passed away on Monday, August 18, 2014 in an Oklahoma hospital. She was born on March 27, 1966 in Akron, Ohio to Bob R. and Juanita Gayle (Tankersley) Smith. She was a credit manager for Boyd Metals, attended St. Boniface Catholic Church, a member of the Arkansas Racquetball Association and a former volunteer at the Greenwood Public Schools. She was preceded in death by her father Bob R. Smith.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 AM, Friday, August 22, 2014 at St. Boniface Catholic Church with burial to follow in Holy Cross Cemetery under the direction of Ocker-Putman Funeral Home of Fort Smith, Arkansas.
She is survived by her husband Michael of the home, two daughters, Emilea Smith of Huntington, AR and Candace Knox of Greenwood, AR; one son, Mason Knox and his wife C.J. of Fort Smith, AR; two step daughters, Erika Townsend and her husband Chris of Cabot, AR and Xylena Nichols of Fort Smith, AR; one step son, Michael Nichols, Jr. of Fort Smith, AR; her mother, Gayle Smith of Fort Smith, AR, her grandmother, Irene Tankersley of Van Buren, AR; two brothers, Melvin Smith and his wife Darlene of St. Joseph, MO and Vance Smith of Fort Smith, AR; two sisters, Belinda Smith and her wife Teri Vann of Corpus Christie, TX and Leeanne Rapier and her husband Stewart of Kibler, AR and four grandchildren, Beau Teague, Gracelynn Shrum, Eva Nichols and Madyson Townsend.
The rosary service will be 6:30PM, Thursday, August 21, 2014 at Ocker-Putman Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Smith, AR. The family will visit with friends following the rosary.
Pallbearers are Melvin, Vance and Trevor Smith, Christopher Nichols, Bill Oldham and Kevin Hicks.
Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
