Obituary for Carrie Jean Wood (McClure)

Carrie Jean Wood, 79, of Barling, Arkansas passed away on Wednesday, October 16, 2013 in a local hospital. She was born in Newark, Arkansas to Elmer and Wilma (Edwards) McClure. She was retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone Company where she was a legal secretary. She was a longtime member of Eastside Baptist Church and was a Sunday Schoolteacher. She sold both Mary Kay Cosmetics and Tupperware and was active in the Election Commission in Barling.
Funeral services are 12:30 PM Monday, October 21, 2013 at Eastside Baptist Church Chapel with burial to follow in the U.S. National Cemetery under the direction of Ocker-Putman Funeral Home of Fort Smith, Arkansas.
She is survived by her husband Ralph Wood of the home, one daughter Toni Carter of Fort Smith, Arkansas; one brother, Jim McClure and his wife Wanda of Maumelle, Arkansas; one sister, Elma Raye Hunter of Batesville, Arkansas; one grandson, Jacob Carter of Fort Smith, Arkansas; two nieces, Natalie Crawford and Trudy Noble and two nephews, Scott Hunter and David Hunter.
Pallbearers are Brad Crawford, Jody Rupe, Chris Vick, Chris Stodola, Philip Bagby and Andy Weant. Hunter Boyette will be the Honorary Pallbearer.
Memorials may be made to the Paralyzed Veterans of America 801 Eighteen Street NW Washington DC 20006-3517.
The Family will visit with friends from 2-4PM on Sunday, October 20th at Ocker-Putman Funeral Home 4500 Jenny Lind Road Fort Smith, AR.
