The Ocker Tradition

For over 100 years the Ocker family has provided a rich tradition of community service.

Founded in 1916 by W.W. Ocker Sr., today R.W. Ocker along with sons Michael and R.W. II own and manage Ocker-Putman Funeral Home, 4500 Jenny Lind Road, Fort Smith, Ocker Funeral Home 700 Jefferson, Van Buren, Ocker Funeral Home 917 Highway 64 East Alma and Ocker Monuments 700 Broadway, Van Buren.

Daisy Ocker, widow of founder W.W. Ocker Sr., was one the first female Licensed Funeral Directors and Embalmers in Arkansas and served as Crawford County Coroner in the 1930’s and 1940’s.

The tradition of service continues, R.W. Ocker has served as President of the Arkansas Funeral Directors Association and has served on the Arkansas Burial Association Board.

The Ocker family has lived in Crawford County Arkansas for five generations and hopes to continue serving area families for many generations to come.
