Obituary for Paula LaVon Jeremiah (Monroe)
Paula LaVon Jeremiah, 74, died on March 2, 2023. She was born November 6, 1948 in Fort Smith, AR. Paula was a beloved wife, devoted mother, and loving “Nanny” or “Nan” to all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and a faithful daughter, sister, and friend. As she gave generously of her care and love, Paula brought much joy to the people around her; she was the life of any gathering and always ready for the next adventure.
Paula is preceded in death by her father, Monty Monroe, and infant daughter, Tammy Sue Jeremiah. She is survived by her spouse, Gary “Chipper” Jeremiah, of the home; one daughter, Robin Hotella, of Van Buren, AR, and one son, Barry Jeremiah, and spouse, Dana, of Little Rock, AR; six grandchildren, Megan McKinney and spouse, Justin, of Van Buren, AR, Kaitlyn Owens and fiancé Taylor Evans, of Barling, AR, Brandon Jeremiah and spouse, Alexandria Lozano, of Lancaster, CA, Alea Jeremiah and partner, Joseph Gentry, of Conway, AR, Madison Green and partner, Jacob Lenik, of Van Buren, AR, and Connor Jeremiah of Little Rock, AR; seven great-grandchildren, Vance, Oakley, Barrett, Charlie, Ryleigh, Noah, and Paxton; her mother, Pauline Monroe, and her brother, Gary Monroe, both of Fort Smith; her mother-in-law, Mary Jeremiah, brother-in-law, Roger Jeremiah, and spouse, Jan Nielsen, and brothers-in-law Mark Jeremiah and Brian Jeremiah, all of Van Buren. Paula is also survived by her special “hen” friends, Gina, Pat, Paula, and Lavonne, and many more nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.
Paula and Chipper met in June 1966, married June 17, 1967, and began their family. They moved to Milton, Florida in 1971, which began their journey to many places, including Mississippi, Alabama, southern Arkansas, Dallas, Little Rock, and Conway. Paula worked in a number of capacities over the years and always enjoyed sharing fun conversation and laughter with the people she loved.
A Service in Celebration of the Life of Paula LaVon Jeremiah will be held on Sunday, April 16, 2023, at 2 p.m., at Mountain View Chapel, 4102 North Rudy Road near Van Buren, with the Rev. Jan K. Nielsen officiating. A private graveside service will be held at Foster Cemetery at a later date. In consideration of Paula’s journey with arthritis and osteoarthritis, and in keeping with her charitable spirit, memorial gifts may be made to the Arthritis Foundation.
