Marvin Duane Atchison, 87, of Fort Smith, Arkansas passed away on Saturday, June 4, 2022 in Fort Smith. He was born on May 16, 1935 in Eureka, Kansas to George and Norma (Brown) Atchison. Marvin was a retired superintendent for Farrell-Cooper Mining, served in the Army Reserves and was a longtime member of Grand Avenue Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife Patricia and a daughter, Stephanie Fudge.
Marvin’s greatest passion was watching his grandchildren play sports and spending time with family. He also enjoyed woodworking and the Razorbacks. His zest for life and all-encompassing loving nature towards everyone he met will be sorely missed.
He is survived by his three sons, Rick Atchison (Murray) of Fayetteville, AR, Brad Atchison (Susan) of Basalt, CO and Brian Atchison (Tracy) of Big Canoe, GA; a sister, Ramona Lucas of Topeka, KS; ten grandchildren, Seth and Cody Fudge, Alec, David, Brooke and Sara Atchison, Cece McNary, Disire’ Heldenbrand, Jonathan Perez and Jessica Harrington and nine great grandchildren.
Private graveside services are under the direction of Ocker-Putman Funeral Home of Fort Smith, AR. Pallbearers will be his grandchildren.
