Obituary for Dorcy M Clegg

Dorcy M. Clegg died on May 3, 2023 at his home in Van Buren. He was born October 3, 1937 in Marshall, Texas to Harold and Leiva (Blaylock) Clegg. He was a 1955 graduate of Van Buren High School and attended Westark College. For 12 years he served with the 188th Air National Guard before joining IBM where he worked as a Customer Service Engineer for 29 years. He was a member of Calvary Missionary Baptist Church since 1949 and served as the music director for many years.
Dorcy was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Donald and Neal, and a dear step-mother, Bea Clegg. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Ann, his daughter Martha Coles and son Randy Clegg (Margie), grandchildren Andrew Coles (Sarah L.), Tyler Clegg, Ashley Mathews (Justin) and Sarah A. Coles, Great Grandchildren include Isaac Coles, Hannah Coles, James Mathews and Cole Mathews. He is also survived by a sister, Joyce Greig and a brother Gerald Clegg.
If anything needed fixing, Dorcy was the man for the job. He was also known for his prolific garden, his love of quartet music, and his car collecting which was rumored to have totaled more than 97 cars.
Pallbearers are Andrew Coles, Tyler Clegg, Justin Mathews, Mike Hicks, Jim Strobel, Jerry Whisenhunt and Terry Browning.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of Calvary Missionary Baptist Church.
Funeral will be 1PM, Monday May 8, 2023 at Ocker Memorial Chapel in Van Buren with Pastor Tom Hill officiating and burial to follow at Gill Cemetery in Van Buren under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home in Van Buren.
Family will visit with relatives and friends on Sunday, May 7, 2023 from 2-4 PM at Ocker Funeral Home, 700 Jefferson Street Van Buren.
