Our mom, Camille, passed away on Monday, May 22, 2023 at Baptist Health of Fort Smith. She was known to friends as Camie and was born on April 6, 1954 in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba to Eric and Joan (née McReynolds) Weiland.
She grew up in a Navy family moving up and down the Eastern Seaboard until the family settled in Fayetteville, Arkansas. She graduated from Fayetteville High School in 1972. Mom was a registered nurse working at Sparks, Holt Krock Clinic, other medical offices, and finally as the lead infusion nurse for Dr. Branum.
She is survived by one daughter, Amy Gibbons (husband Greg) of Fort Smith; two sons, Dax Anderson of Fort Smith and Woody Anderson (wife Francesca) of Naperville, Illinois. Mom had nine wonderful grandchildren: Gemma, Gunnar and Graham Gibbons, Seth and Trevor Anderson, and Woodrow, Isaiah, Matteo, and Camilla Anderson. She was also blessed with one great-grandchild, Jensen Anderson.
Mom was very gifted in arts and crafts and created beautiful keepsakes for her family. Her penmanship was exquisite. She was a very talented Southern cuisine cook with a German flair. Each of her family members had a favorite pie she would bake on holidays, and everyone will remember her deviled eggs and chicken and dumplings. Mom loved the holidays and spent hours planning and decorating for them. She was an avid reader and puzzles queen. She loved animals, Stephen King, M&M's, and old movies. Her happy place was her neatly kept deck, especially at daybreak and sunset and listening to the birds and wind chimes. Mom was adventurous and remained intrepid at heart even when her body slowed down. She faced her illness with courage. She loved deeply and was deeply loved.
