Obituary for Ann Gray Byars (Gray)

Ann Gray Byars, 83, of Fort Smith, Arkansas passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 31, 2024. Ann was a home maker and interior decorator. Ann was a member of First United Methodist Church in Fort Smith, PEO, and Garden Club. She was an avid tennis player and a talented painter, and a fabulous cook who loved to entertain friends and family. Ann was born November 6, 1940 in Fort Smith, Arkansas to the late Malcolm and Mary (Dotson) Gray. She was preceded in death by her parents, Malcolm and Mary Gray; husband, Joe Dan Byars; and son, Drew Byars.

Funeral service will be 11:00 A.M. Friday, February 2, 2024 at Roebuck Chapel at the First United Methodist Church in Fort Smith, AR. The family will visit with friends one hour prior to the service, 10:00 A.M. Friday, February 2, 2024 at First United Methodist Church in Fort Smith with a private committal service to follow. Pallbearers will be Nick Byars, Beckett Byars, Ben Byars, Will Byars, Sam Byars, and Alexander Byars. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Alma.

Ann is survived by her sons, Joe Byars and wife Carla of Bixby, OK, Blake Byars and wife Joni of Fort Smith, AR; grandchildren, Katherine Silman and husband Rick, Dr. Nick Byars and wife Lily, Beckett Byars, Ben Byars, Will Byars, Sam Byars, Alexander Byars; great-grandchildren, Saylor Byars, Emmet Silman, Issac Silman; sisters, Babe Douglas, Francie Douglas, Debbie Ray; and brother, Buddy Gray.
