Jeannette Marie Isaacks Wazelle, 71, beloved mother, grandmother, teacher and minister, passed away March 19, 2021, in Fort Smith, AR. Jeannette was born to Lt. Eugene B. and Blanche Butler Isaacks on April 10, 1949, at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio Texas. A 1967 graduate of Alma High School, Jeannette was a member of the National Honor Society, and a standout guard for the Alma Airedalettes basketball team. Jeannette was a 1971 graduate of Arkansas Tech University in Russellville, AR, and had a long and successful career as a public school music teacher and choir director. She also earned a Masters of Divinity degree from Phillips Theological Seminary in Tulsa, OK, and served as pastor for several local churches. Jeannette was a generous and caring soul who loved her family. She never met a stranger she didn’t like, and she loved God with all her heart. She is survived by her son, Thomas Wazelle III, of New York City, her daughter, Janna Corinne Wazelle of Alma, AR, and grandchildren Jade Wazelle of Alma, AR, and Thomas Robert and Blanche Fawn Wazelle of New York City. She is also survived by her two sisters, Barbara Jane Christy of Ft. Coffee, OK, and Darlynn Ann Bender of Alma, AR. A memorial service celebrating Jeannette’s life will be conducted on April 10, 2021, at Ocker Funeral Home, 917 Hwy 64 East, Alma, AR, at 10 A.M.. Family and friends are welcome. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
