Obituary for Loy Lee Swearingen

Loy Lee Swearingen, 96 of Van Buren passed away Wednesday, March 17, 2021 in a local nursing home. He was retired from Riverside Furniture Company as an engineer for more than twelve years and was a US Army Veteran of WWII. In his younger years he served as an usher, a Sunday school teacher and a Deacon while being a member at Van Buren First Assembly of God. He had resided at Legacy Heights in Van Buren before moving to Fianna Nursing Home in Fort Smith. He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Lou Russell Swearingen.

He is survived by two sons Jim Burchfiel and wife Darlene of Crozet, Virginia and Kennon Swearingen and wife Rita of Van Buren; a sister Wilma Rippy of Beggs, Oklahoma; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He is also survived by Jerry Irvin of San Antonio, Texas, who was like a son to him.

Funeral services will be 11AM Saturday, March 20, 2021 at Ocker Memorial Chapel in Van Buren with burial to follow at Gracelawn Cemetery under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home in Van Buren.

Pallbearers will be Dylan Swearingen, Devin Swearingen, Jackson Bond, Ron Bankston,
Daniel Swafford, and Sam Bond.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Jarrett Bond, Rudolph Coleman and Chuck Phillips.

Family will visit with relatives and friends Friday, March 19, 2021 from 5-7 PM at Ocker Funeral Home, 700 Jefferson Street Van Buren.
