Obituary for George "Papa George" Freeman
George Freeman, 88, of Mulberry passed away on Friday, February 26, 2021 at his home. “Papa George”, as he was known, was a member of God’s Miracle Lighthouse, a logger and a citrus importer. George was born February 11, 1933 in Pelsor, AR to the late Louis and Lueller (Sipes) Freeman. He was also preceded in death by his son, Larry Freeman; sister, Lorene Riddell and brothers, Eddie and Edgar Freeman.
Services will be 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, March 2, 2021 at Ocker Chapel of Alma with Brother Rodney Lane officiating and interment at Coleman Cemetery in Pelsor, AR under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Alma.
Survivors include his wife, Rita Freeman of the home; daughter, Wanda Allen and husband James of Mulberry; sister, Viola Wheeler of Dover; brother, Willie Freeman of Hector and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Jeromy Woodard, Jeff Dalton, Eddie Rogers, Jamie Kendrick, Austin Smith and David Holmes.
The family will visit with friends from 5:00 until 7:00 PM Monday, March 1, 2021 at Ocker Chapel of Alma, 917 Hwy 64 E., Alma, AR.
George was a wonderful husband and father. Wanda said “He was the best dad ever and the first man she loved.” Brenda Rockwood also said, “Papa George was the papa at God’s Miracle Lighthouse Church.”
