Obituary for Darrell Moss Bolding

Darrell Moss Bolding of Van Buren went home to heaven on Thursday morning, January 14, 2021. Born November 12, 1940 on a farm outside of Alma, Arkansas, he was the son of Commodore Park (C.P.) Bolding and Cordelia Moss Bolding.
He was retired from IBM Corporation and later worked as a contractor for several companies, spending most of his adult life in Friendswood, Texas. His job activities included computer programming, computer analysis and system engineering. Much of his career was in support of NASA projects including the Space Shuttle and the International Space Station. He was awarded a flag flown on the second Space Shuttle flight for his work as software analyst for the remote manipulator system CanadaArm.

He was a 1959 graduate of Alma High School and received Bachelor and Master of Science degrees in physics from the University of Arkansas.
He was a life-long Christian and was proud of the fact that he was involved in building five different churches. He enjoyed the song written by Larry Gatlin “Greatly Blessed and Highly Favored, Imperfect but Forgiven Child of God” and would have liked to be remembered that way.
He was a patriotic American and was active in politics and held political office in Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers: C.A. Bolding, Bill Bolding and Tom Bolding; three sisters: Cordelia Alley, Eula Belle Young and Betty Milton and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is survived by his wife of 57 ½ years, Patricia (Winn) Bolding, three children, Karyn Renee DeFoore and Husband, Olen, of Van Buren, Kevin Winn Bolding and wife, Sharon, of Cascade, Colorado and Darren Keith Bolding and wife, Tammie, of Colorado Springs, Colorado; four grandsons, Michael DeFoore, Matthew DeFoore, Andrew DeFoore and Daniel Bolding.

Funeral services will be 11AM, Monday January 18, 2021 at Ocker Memorial Chapel in Van Buren with burial to follow at Gracelawn Cemetery under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home in Van Buren.
