Obituary for Jo Ellen Chotard (Branan)
Jo Ellen Chotard, 75, of Van Buren, Arkansas, passed away on January 11, 2021 at Mercy Hospital in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
Jo Ellen was born September 5, 1945 in Fort Smith, Arkansas to Joel and Helen Branan. She graduated from Alma High School in 1963 and graduated from Arkansas Tech University in 1966. Jo Ellen married Henry Chotard of Lake Village, Arkansas on June 15, 1968 at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Fort Smith. She was an English teacher in Van Buren for 32 years. She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Van Buren. She loved writing, traveling and was an avid reader. She looked forward to book club gatherings, enjoyed sewing and had a new interest in genealogy.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years Henry and their daughter Jennifer Chotard Spears and her spouse Lisa of Hiwasse and a brother-in-law, Craig Chotard of Little Rock.
Cremation is under the direction of Ocker-Putman Funeral Home of Van Buren. Interment of ashes will be at Trinity Episcopal Church in Van Buren. A private service will be held for family and members of Trinity on Friday, January 15 at 10:00 AM.
