Obituary for Hasse "Ed" Hansson

Hasse Evald “Ed” Hansson, 82, of Fort Smith, Arkansas was called to his heavenly home on Sunday, January 10, 2021 due to complications associated with Alzheimer’s disease.
He was born on November 13, 1938 in Uddevalla, Sweden to Oskar and Marta (Matsson) Hansson. He came to the United States at the age of 18 where he proudly served in the US Army. Ed became a naturalized American citizen in 1965. He retired in 1997 as a manufacturing engineer for General Electric/Trane and was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Greenwood. AR. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Britta Sjoman and her husband Kjell, his brother, Gunnar Hansson and his mother and father in law, Johnnie and Ola Doyle whom he loved as his American parents.
Graveside services with military honors are 10:00AM, Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at the U.S. National Cemetery under the direction of Ocker-Putman Funeral Home of Fort Smith, AR.
Visitation will be from 5-7PM Tuesday at the funeral home.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Linda(Doyle) Hansson; a son, Patrick Hansson and his wife Kelly of Fort Smith; two grandchildren, Samuel Cooper Hansson and MacKenzie Moulton both of Fort Smith and a sister, Karin Olsson and her husband Raymond and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Honorary pallbearers are Kent Haunschild, Joe and Jeanne Henderson, Jack and Pearl Lucas, William and Irma Mullen, Freda and Gaylon Patterson, Richard and Johanna Scrivner, Benny and Mildred Stovall and Barbara Williams.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Grace Lutheran Church 18218 Hwy 71, Greenwood, AR 72936.
