Obituary for Lena Wanell Shewmaker (Brians)
Lena Wanell Shewmaker, 86 of Van Buren, Arkansas departed this life for her eternal home on Saturday, December 26, 2020. Wanell was born in Carson, Texas and was a resident of Arkansas for thirty six years. She was of Baptist faith, a homemaker, enjoyed reading, sewing, and gardening.
She was preceded in death by her husband Chester Ludell Shewmaker; parents Claude and Flossie (Edwards) Brians; three brothers Alton Hargraves, Walter “Son” Brians and Ralph Brians; two son-in-laws Wesley Allbaugh and Cody Rhodes.
She is survived by five children Lawanda Kay Allbaugh of Rudy, Elwanda Gay Rhodes of DeLeon, Texas, Dewitt Johnson and wife Tina of DeLeon, Texas, Douglas Claude Johnson of Clifton, Texas and Jeri Kaynell Shewmaker of Van Buren, Arkansas; nine grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
Viewing will be 8AM-5PM, Wednesday December 30, 2020 at Ocker Funeral Home in Van Buren, Arkansas. Funeral services will be 11AM, Thursday December 31, 2020 at Ocker Memorial Chapel in Van Buren with burial to follow at Antioch Cemetery in Van Buren. Following the services, a celebration of life will be held at her residence.
Pallbearers will be DeWitt Johnson, Douglas Johnson, Charles Brown, Daniel Johnson, John T. Johnson, Jacob Schmidt, Dell Combs, Brandon Black.
In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the Almost Home Animal Shelter in Van Buren, 3390 Pointer Trail E. Van Buren, Arkansas 72956.
