Obituary for Ethel Carman Thrift (Brown)

Ethel Carman Thrift, 97 of Alma, Arkansas passed away on Saturday, November 14, 2020 in her home. She was a retired welder for Baldor Manufacturing, a member of the Rudy Baptist Church and The Eastern Star. She loved making quilts, being on the go, and playing Bingo with her friends. She was born February 26, 1923 in Alma to the late Holland and Margaret (Abercrombie) Brown. She was also preceded in death by her husband Wilburn J. Thrift; son, Roger Edwards; grandson, Anthony Edwards; great grandson, Peyton Jackson; and one brother, James Brown.
Graveside service will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 18, 2020 at the U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Tuesday at Ocker Funeral Home of Alma. Services are under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Alma. The service will be livestreamed on the Ocker-Putman Funeral Home Facebook page.
Survivors include her daughters, Carman Hensley and husband Doyle and Betty Owings both of Alma; sons, George Renfro of Mulberry, David Thrift and wife Patty and Doug Thrift and wife Janie all of Alma; brother Billy Wayne Brown of Alma; 17 Grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren, Nieces and Nephews.
Pallbearers will be Ashley Thrift, Aaron Thrift, Steven Renfro, Michael Hensley, Jason Hensley and Kyle Thompson.
The family will visit with friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Tuesday evening, November 17, 2020 at Ocker Funeral Home of Alma, 917 Hwy. 64 East, Alma, AR.
