Obituary for George Howard Griffith

George Howard Griffith, 80, of Fort Smith departed this life on Sunday September 20, 2020 in a local hospital. He was born on January 24, 1940 in Oxnard, CA to Rector and Jane (Howard) Griffith. George was employed in banking, oil fields and in the chemical production industry. He was an active member of the Rye Hill Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher and choir member. He enjoyed playing golf, watching the Razorbacks, riding his tractor and being Pawpaw to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. George was preceded in death by his parents, two brother and four sisters, Rector, Jr., Melba, Joyce, Marion, Lester and Ester.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Clara; two sons, Mark Griffith and his wife Monica of Fort Smith and Lance Griffith and his wife Rebecca of Van Buren; four grandchildren, Garett Griffith and his wife Tiffany, Hannah Crelia and her husband Caleb, Lorrie Griffith and Walker Griffith; four great-grandchildren, Gavin, Jase, Josie and Thadd; one sister, Norma Greentree of Vincennes, In.
Funeral service will be 1:00 PM, Wednesday September 23, 2020 at Rye Hill Baptist Church with burial in Mixon Cemetery under the direction of Ocker-Putman Funeral Home of Fort Smith, AR.
Pallbearers will be Garett and Walker Griffith, Danny and Noah Robbins, A.J. Zornes and Caleb Crelia.
