Obituary for Neta Stewart (Venable)

Neta Marcelle Stewart, 76, of Barling, Arkansas, went to be with her Lord and Savior Tuesday, June 30, 2020 in Fort Smith, Arkansas, with loved ones by her side. She was born August 7, 1943 in Mansfield, Arkansas, to Elbert and Margaret Venable. She was married to John Stewart for 60 years and raised four wonderful sons. Neta was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers: Charles, Gerald and Lanny and one sister, Glenda.

Neta leaves behind her husband John and four sons and daughters-in-law: Jay and Teresa of Bentonville, Steve and Denise and Warren and Debbie of Fort Smith, and Keith and Kim of Wister, OK; one sister and sister-in-law: Lynette Woolridge of Queen City, TX and Pat Venable of Rogers, AR; nine grandchildren and respective spouses: Ryan and Kori Stewart and Lauren and Denton Branson of Fort Smith, Megan and Chris Briley of Midwest City, OK, Jacob Stewart of Fayetteville, Paige and Jamie Brooks of Van Buren, and Mary, Sarah, Anna Grace and Ruth Stewart of Wister; and six great grandchildren: Harrison, Braxton, Beckett, Olivia, Jagger and Brooks.

Neta is a retired cosmetologist and is also retired from Baldor Electric Company in Fort Smith, and she was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Jenny Lind where she enjoyed leading the children’s choir and singing in the adult choir for many years. Some of her favorite things to do included talking about Jesus, spending time with family, singing at church, creating oil paintings, collecting dolls, writing in calligraphy, eating at Cracker Barrel and writing poems—one of which is hanging in the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C.She lived a long, beautiful life surrounded by her family and looked forward to the day when she would meet Jesus face-to-face and be reunited with her parents and siblings. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Neta’s life will be celebrated at 10:00 AM Friday, July 3, 2020 at Faith Baptist Church in Jenny Lind, AR with burial in Oak Hill Cemetery, Booneville, AR. Viewing will be 4-7PM on Thursday, July 2, 2020 at Ocker-Putman Funeral Home of Fort Smith.

Pallbearers are Keith Stewart, Ryan Stewart, Jacob Stewart, Chris Briley, Denton Branson and Jamie Brooks.
