Obituary for Shirley Bostic (Wiley)

Shirley J. Wiley Bostic born in Wagoner, Oklahoma on February 24, 1943 to Ed and Reba Wiley. She was the youngest of three children, sister to Freda Rolland and brother to Bill Wiley. She grew up in Scott City, Kansas as a child, before moving to Van Buren, Arkansas, where she attended school and graduated high school as the high school homecoming queen. After high school she married and had three children Jay, Joe and Jere. She worked in Optometry business while raising her boys. After raising her boys, she returned to school earning her associate degree from Connors State College in Warner Oklahoma, then her Bachelor’s Degree from Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. She went on to be a librarian in Okay, Oklahoma, then at Locust Grove Schools until she retired. She loved quilting and crafting many things for her home. She loved reading books. She loved her family, and the many friends she worked with.

She was preceded in death by her husband Dave Bostic, and brother Bill Wiley.

She is survived by her sister Freda Rolland and husband Bob, her three boys Jay and wife Wendy, Joe and life partner Heather Hays and Jere; Grandkids Jason Peer and wife Nicole and great-granddaughter Arya and also grandkids Cassie Peer and Derek Peer; sister-in-law Sue Wiley and nephew Eddie Wiley; nieces Vicky Garrison, Robbie Cowan and Terri Miller.

Graveside services will be under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home in Van Buren.
