Obituary for James D Burnett
James D. Burnett, 94 of Alma passed away Wednesday, October 23, 2019 in a local hospital. He was a retired elementary school teacher and principal for the Battiest, Oklahoma Public School System and was a decorated WWII Navy Veteran. He was preceded in death by his parents William & Clara (Allen) Burnett, one son James A. (Jim) Burnett; a sister Vivienne Burnett; one great granddaughter Elizabeth Burnett.
He is survived by his wife of seventy-three years, Imogene of the home; one son Robert Burnett and wife Jan of Van Buren; one daughter-in-law Daphane Burnett of Fayetteville; two granddaughters Micki Jernigan and family of Greenville, North Carolina and Stephanie Pinkerton and family of Farmington, Arkansas and two grandsons Major Scott Burnett and family of Norman, Oklahoma and Bill Burnett of Rogers, Arkansas; many great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
A family held memorial service will be 10AM, Saturday October 26, 2019 at First Baptist Church in Alma. Arrangements and cremations were under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home in Van Buren.
