Obituary for Donald Hugh Jones

Donald Hugh Jones, 80 of Van Buren passed away Monday, February 25, 2019 in his home. He was retired after serving 39 years in the Arkansas National Guard in Fort Smith and had a small engine repair shop for 25 years; He was a 1957 graduate of Fort Smith High School. He was a member of the Belle Pointe Sam’s Camping Club and Flight Masters R.C. Club both of Fort Smith. He was a member the First United Methodist Church and the Uplifters Sunday school class. He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Frances (Ree) Jones; both parents, Cylde and Alma (Edwards) Jones.

Funeral service will be at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, February 28, 2019 at Ocker Memorial Chapel in Van Buren with burial at U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith with full military honors under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home in Van Buren.

He is survived by two sons, Jim Jones and wife, Christy, Timothy Jones and wife, Karen all of Van Buren; two grandchildren, Ashleigh Wilson and Dylan Jones both of Van Buren; three great grandchildren, Chloe and Coltyn Wilson, Luke Jones all of Van Buren;one step grandson, Gary Perkins, two step great grandchildren, Alli and Garett Perkins of Hackett; a special friend and travel companion, Judy King of Branson, Missouri.

Family will visit with relatives and friends Wednesday, February 27, 2019 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at Ocker Funeral Home, 700 Jefferson Street, Van Buren, Arkansas.

Pallbearers will be Larry Scheers, Tommy Gammage, Phillip Brickey, Jim Atchison, Richard Lang, Danny Brewer, Bill Stamps, and Otis Edwards.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Fort Smith Air National Guard.
