James Paul. Gibbs, Sr. 66, of Van Buren passed away Thursday, January 3, 2019 in a local hospital. He served in the U. S. Army and the U.S. National Guard and was a security Guard for Gerber Products Company in Fort Smith. He was a 1972 graduate of Van Buren High School. He loved fishing. He was preceded in death by his parents Fred Gibbs and Grace (Carter) Gibbs; and four brothers Frank, Freddy, William and Albert.

Funeral service will be at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at Ocker Memorial Chapel in Van Buren with burial at Dora Cemetery in Van Buren under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home in Van Buren.

He is survived by a son, James Paul Gibbs Jr and wife Jessica of Muldrow, Oklahoma; four sisters, Imogene Henderson of Charleston, Virginia Robertson of Jamesville, North Carolina, Olamae Hicks and Linda Gibbs both of Van Buren; three grandchildren Shianne Gibbs, Austin Gibbs and Hadley Gibbs all of Muldrow.

Family will visit with relatives and friends Monday, January 14, 2019 from 5 -7 P.M. at Ocker Funeral Home 700 Jefferson Street Van Buren.
