Obituary for Sallie Jane Perry (Ferrell)

Sallie “Jane” Perry, 74, of Fort Smith, Arkansas passed away on Thursday, January 3, 2019 in a Fort Smith hospital. She was born on January 4, 1944 in Fort Smith, Arkansas to Forest and Gussie Lee (Cathey) Ferrell. Jane was raised in Arkoma, Oklahoma and graduated from the University of Arkansas with a master’s degree in Child Development. She was an Occupational Home Economics teacher at Northside High School for 23 years and started the “Hero Club” at the school. She was active in the Sebastian County Democratic Party serving on the Central Committee and in the Sebastian County Democratic Women. Jane loved to travel and was of the Baptist Faith.
Funeral service is 1:00P.M. Monday, January 7, 2019 at Ocker-Putman Funeral Home Chapel of Fort Smith with burial to follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
She is survived by her husband James R. Perry of the home; one daughter, Elizabeth Cameron and her husband Glenn of Fort Smith, AR and one granddaughter, Megan Young and her husband Lee of Fort Smith, Arkansas.
Pallbearers will be Brian Vass, J.O. Barton, Michael Ross, Lee Young, Steve Levering, David Perry and Jim D. Perry. Deacon Brian Lachowsky will conduct the service.
The family will visit with friends from 1:00-3:00 P.M. on Sunday at the funeral home.
