Obituary for Vernita Keeton (Bell)

Vernita Keeton, 77, of Fort Smith, Arkansas passed away on Friday, June 29, 2018 in a local hospital. She was born on June 18, 1941 in Lawton, Oklahoma to Pat and Maybell (Woods) Bell. She was a former factory technician for Tysons foods and a member of Evangel Temple. She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, Callie May White, Louise Shine and Helen Trotty and three brothers, Joe Woods, Roy Benjamin and Van Solomon. Vernita loved all holidays and would decorate her home and yard for each and every one of them. She was loved and cherished by her family.
Funeral services will be 9:30AM, Friday, July 6, 2018 at Ocker-Putman Funeral Home Chapel burial to follow in the U.S. National Cemetery under the direction of Ocker-Putman Funeral Home of Fort Smith, Arkansas.
She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Jerry Keeton of the home; a daughter, Josephine Williams of San Antonio, TX; a son, Ohenio Harris of Killeen, TX; two sisters, Corine Douglass of Augusta, GA and Anna Jean Townsend of Lawton, OK; four grandchildren and eight great grandchildren as well as a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
The family will visit with friends from 5-7PM on Thursday, July 5, 2018 at Ocker-Putman Funeral Home in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
