Obituary for Loyd D. Cockrum

Loyd D. Cockrum 81, of Van Buren passed away Saturday, May 12, 2018. He was born December 15, 1936 in Chester to Roy and Grace (Boyd) Cockrum. He was retired production manager for Mead Containers, Stone Containers, Champion International and owned C&C Specialists and Co-owner of Custom Assembly. He was a Mason and a lifelong resident of Crawford County. He attended the Bethlehem Freewill Baptist Church in Van Buren. He was preceded in death by an infant son, Ricky Lee Cockrum and his parents; two sisters, Mable Morrow and Wilma Jean Cockrum; one brother, Hayden Cockrum who was killed in the Korean War; one nephew, Danny Cockran.

Funeral service will be 2:00 P.M. Wednesday May 16, 2018 at Ocker Memorial Chapel with burial at Gracelawn Cemetery in Van Buren under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home Van Buren, Arkansas.

He is survived by his wife, Coreena (Burkhart) Cockrum of the home; two daughters, Idonna Toppin and husband Ray of Van Buren, Sherry Ridenhour and husband Kenneth of Waldron; two sons Terry Cockrum and wife Lisa of Van Buren, and Randy Cockrum and wife Anjie of Coal Hill; one sister, Sharon Shaffer and husband, Joe of Chester; one brother, Roy Gene Cochran and wife, Carolyn of Mountainburg; eight grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; eight great -grandchildren and five step-great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Stanley Burkhart, Monty Burkhart, Gary Burkhart, Steve Cochran, Roger Atwell, Ricky Shaffer and Nick Shaffer.

Honorary pallbearers will be Bill LaRue, James Walters, Jimmy Burkhart, Johnny Belt,
Bob Pryor, Cecil Freeman, Jerry Hunter, Charley Swain, Calvin Rainwater and all former employees’.

The family will visit with relatives and friends Tuesday, May 15, 2018 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Ocker funeral Home, 700 Jefferson Street, Van Buren, Arkansas.
