Condolences

Condolence From: Peggy Rice
Condolence: Connie and I worked at the Bank in the late 70's/early 80's. She was such a joy to work with. A true team player. Very calm, gracious and elegant in all she did. She and Rennie and my husband and I went out socially many times and it was so evident that they were the perfect couple. I don't often read the obituaries in the Pantagraph, but for some reason today I did. Now I know why. I found out another angel is in Heaven.

Condolence: I was so sorry to hear about Connie. She and I both taught at Bent School. Connie was a wonderful teacher, always caring, positive and professional. There was a mutual respect between her and her students. She helped many children both to learn and be better people. I enjoyed my conversations with Connie. She always had a smile and a laugh that brightened my day. Howie Tepper

Condolence: I wanted to give you all my deepest sympathy on the passing of Connie. I worked with her in the early 90s at Victoria's Secret in Eastland Mall in Bloomington, IL. We were co-managers of the store. I remember your mom as being soft spoken, very personable, easy to talk to and just a GOOD person. I was always jealous of her beautiful, soft, blond hair. She always dressed in feminine soft flowey dresses. I remember her telling me one time that her maiden name was Lanzotti and when she got married, she really wanted to keep that name because she liked the way her name sounded. But Rennie told her...look at it this way...you will be forever "Young". You boys were small back then and I also had young children and we would compare notes. She doted on you boys and was always concerned about doing the "right thing" as a mom. Apparently, she did a marvelous job raising you, along with your father. I could feel the love between them as she spoke about Rennie. I have thought of her often through the years and was quite shocked to see the obituary in yesterday's Pantagraph. I remember she told me how she got the job at Victoria's Secret. She had a teaching degree but had ended up working at a bank for about ten years. She wanted a change so she told me she opened up the phone book to the yellow Pages and just started reading thru all the businesses, and thought Victoria's Secret sounded like fun, even tho she had no retail experience whatsoever.. I think she persisted hard enough to land the job. And she was so good at it....customer's loved her, she was so helpful ... it was obvious how much she enjoyed being there. She made many of my days better with her easy going, calm personality. I am deeply saddened by reading ConniesMiracle. It has touched me to my core. Evan, you have honored your mother in the best way possible, you truly are a "perfect son". I am struggling to comprehend the pain she must have endured...in more ways than just physical. Having to leave her loving family has to be the most difficult thing in the world for her.. I am trying to take comfort in the fact that she is out of pain and suffering and finally at peace. To me, Connie's Miracle is Connie herself. The world lost a wonderful, warm, caring person and is a little darker because of it. Thank you for such a touching, heartfelt tribute to your mom, Evan. She would be so proud.

Condolence: My husband and I went to grade school with Connie. She was a beautiful, kind person even as a child. I remember spending the night with Connie and every time, she would pull out these beautiful nightgowns with jackets!! Light pink, light yellow, light blue. She would let me wear one to bed and pick out the color that I wanted. Wow! I also remember her Pug dogs. They had the worst breath but were soooo cute. Connie just loved them. In high school we didn't hang out as much but always kept our connection. Connie stood out in the crowd and was very loved. We were lucky to have known her. I have such fond memories of Connie. The whole family is in our thoughts and prayers.

Condolence: I loved Connie like a sister. She and I were great friends in elementary and high school and were Father O'Hara's ski boat coordinators. Most summer days, he would call either Connie or me and say, "Round up the gang and meet me at the dock at 1. We would always have six or seven girls and he would pull four or five of us at a time behind the boat. It must have been a sight to see. Those were the best days. I have so many wonderful memories of Connie. I hadn't seen her in several years, but when I did, we would pick up right where we left off. God bless you all and watch for signs--she's still with you in spirit.

Condolence: I worked with Connie at Bent for a few years. She was always so sweet and kind to everyone around her. There were days I would go up to eat my lunch with plans to hurry back to my office to get work done. But if Connie walked in, those plans always changed because talking to Connie always made my day. She would brighten up the room when she walked in, and she was always such a joy to chat with. She always talked about her family with such love and adoration. Connie always had a listening ear and a loving personality. Truly a special person who will be dearly missed.
