Ruben Louis  Owens
Ruben Louis Owens, 67, OF Fort Smith, Arkansas passed away on Tuesday, June 20, 2017 in a local hospital. He was born on November 18, 1949 in Spiro, Oklahoma to Ruben “R.L.” and Verlie (Mackey) Owens. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam Era. He retired from Dixie Cup after 40 years as a machinist and a mechanic. Ruben was a 32 degree Mason of the Spiro Masonic Lodge, a member of the Choctaw Nation and a member of the River Valley Revival Center. He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Melissa Owens and a step son, Raymond Maxwell.
Funeral services are 11:00AM, Friday, June 23, 2017 at Ocker-Putman Funeral Home Chapel of Fort Smith with burial to follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
He is survived by his wife Betty of the home; two daughters, Belinda Walker of Spiro, OK and Tammy Grimes and her husband Donald of Fort Smith, AR; one brother, Dennis Owens, of Spiro, OK; three sisters, Sharon Edwards and Debbie Welker of Spiro, OK and Terri Grizzle of Pocola, OK; seven grandchildren, Waylynn Walker, Haley Walker, Ashley Henson, Karissa, Ryan , Serenity Maxwell and Virginia Dagada and four great grandchildren, McKayle Edwards, McKenzie Henson and Adain and Kadden Richardson.
Pallbearers are Charlie Tann, Gene Foyil, Larry Masterson, Jerry Owens, Scott Carey and Mark Lovett.
The family will visit with friends from 5-7PM, Thursday at Ocker-Putman Funeral Home of Fort Smith, Arkansas.
