Augusta Koen  Boatright (Koen)
Augusta Koen Boatright, 99, of Alma, Arkansas passed away on Monday, April 17, 2017 in a local hospital. She was a retired history teacher from Northside High School. She taught school for 40 years in the Crawford Sebastian area. She was a member of Alma First Baptist Church and Taught Adult Sunday School Classes for more than 40 years. She served many years on the Board of Trustees of Quachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas, was a lifetime member of the Arkansas Retired Teachers Association. She also served as President of the Fort Smith Education Association, held every office in the Department of Classroom Teachers, Treasurer and Board Member in the Arkansas Education Association, serving on the Resolutions Committee of the National Education Association. She was a charter member and first president of Alpha Rho Chapter Delta Kappa Gamma.She was born October 19, 1917 in Bellefonte, Arkansas to the late Hillman Koen, Sr. and Myrtle Young Koen. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Truman Boatright; three sisters, Jo Smith, Virginia Allured and Betty Koen and two brothers, Ross and Hillman Koen, Jr.; two nephews, Robert and Richard Allured

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, April 20, 2017 at Alma First Baptist Church with interment in Evergreen Cemetery under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Alma.

Survivors include three nieces, Sharon Allured of Alma, Mary Jo Stepp of California and Trice Hirr of Florida; Sister-in-law, Francis Koen of Hope, AR; Special friends in her life, Ray and Mary Young, Jerri Avery, Lawrence and Reba Davis, Bernice Watson, Michaelle Daniels, Jolly and Frances Baugh, Joy Anderson and Ann Lindsey.

Pallbearers will be Lawrence Davis, Floyd Cagle, Kevin Collins, Rick Douglas, Clovis Satterfield, Jolly Baugh and Joe Cloven.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Alma First Baptist Church of The Mission Corp. at P. O. Box 819, Alma, AR 72921
