Condolences

Condolence From: Janna Scheible
Condolence: Mardell, It was a pleasure to see you and Herschel at the Wesley anniversary last summer. Sadly, I now offer you condolences. As I look back at your ministry together in Russellville, the thing that I remember most is your gracious hospitality. The two of you were then and continued to be a shining example of showing the gift of Christian hospitality and encouragement. May God comfort you during this time, Janna Scheible

Condolence From: Alana and David Bell
Condolence: Mardell and family, David and I are thinking and praying for all of you. We have such wonderful memories of the McClurkin's involvement with the Bell family over the last 60+ years. David, Kenny and Barbara tell some great stories of Shoal Creek Camp and the youth group at FUMC. I remember how much fun everyone had at the St. Patrick's Day celebrations. Those memories of Hershel will always bring a smile to our faces. I know, even in this time of loss, the many more memories you have will do the same.

Condolence: I have to smile when I think of Herschel MCClurkin and how he had to put up with so much of us from the First Methodist youth in the early 60's. He had the patience of Job and we all loved him so much. We thought we were so cleaver trying to make sure he was going to marry Mardell. One time I especially remember going somewhere on a bus and we giggled because they sat together. I feel so blessed to have had both of you in our young lives to show us what love and respect ment. Thank you.

Condolence: Mardell, I am so sorry for your loss. I am glad I had the privilege of knowing both of you. You both have contributed so much to this world, and it is a better place for your having been here. I just lost my precious Frank to cancer February 15, and after being married for almost 53 years, it is a hard adjustment. I will be praying for you and your family during this difficult time.

Condolence: Mardell and family, please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you during this time and in the days and months ahead. Herschel was a man that could brighten anyone's day and make a person feel right at home in his presence. His work for all the people whose lives he touched in each community and church where he served is a continuing ripple with positive effects that will reach countless others, for Herschel left a small bit of himself with each of us. We are so thankful that God blessed us by making Herschel and Mardell a part of our lives. What great memories we share!

Condolence: Hershall and family served our church in Wynne many years ago. Please know that he meant so much to me and my family. He counceled our family in times of trouble and was a favorite of my mother's, Tippie, with his kindness. All of his family was special and he was proud of each of you. Peace be with you as you go forward.

Condolence: Mardell, I am so sorry to learn of your loss. You two were such a strong Christian witness and shared such love. Herschel represented everything a person would think a minister should be & was an asset to the United Methodist Church. You were such a strong influence on other minister's wives. I always looked up to you both. My prayers are with you at this time & in the days to come. Love, Mary Powell

Condolence: Herschel will always have a special place in our hearts. He was a wonderful man, and has always been there for our family. He served as our minister in our weddings and our family funerals, and was always there in our time of need. He was a wonderful friend and will be missed greatly. Our prayers go out to Mardel and his children as they mourn his passing. Heaven got another Angel and we all know he is there waiting for us to join him.

Condolence From: Bill Altland
Condolence: I remember well the time Herschel & Mardell spent in service to the folks at the Gentry Methodist Church. I was in high school then. I believe it might have been the first pastorate for the McClurkins. I know they made an impact on that group of kids in the youth group. I know they made a very positive impact on me. I have touched base with the McKlurkins over the decades. I was always struck by Herschel's humility and compasssion. He was great example to me as one who lived his faith.

Condolence: No greater man did God ever produce. He was the finest example of kindness. I hope he and Mardell know how much you have meant to me all my life. I am so thankful for everything you did for my family and that we found ourselves in the same community for so long. Thank you for the positive influence you had on my girls. You both are loved dearly..
