Obituary for Jean Van Zandt Johnson (Myers)

Jean Van Zandt Johnson (Myers)
Jean VanZandt Johnson of Muldrow, OK. went to her heavenly home on January 15, 2017 in Fort Smith, AR. Born on November 29, 1927 in the community of Paw Paw, OK. to Fred and Margie Myers, she was the fourth of five children which were all girls. Two of her sisters, Mable VanZandt and Marie Whatley proceeded her in death. Nanny, as many knew her, was a hairdresser and had her beauty shop beside her house which is a neighborhood landmark still to this day. She loved camping and fishing, dancing and especially bowling, she was on the bowling league for many years of her life. She married George VanZandt and had three children, two daughters LaVonda VanZandt-Williamson and Gayle VanZandt-Williams and one son George Gaylon VanZandt who also preceded her in death. Nanny was a feisty, stubborn, hard headed, spunky little lady with a heart of gold and full of life who was always on the go. She had three grandchildren, Dorinda VanZandt, Justin Jones and Torrey Williamson who were the stars in her sky and then along came three great-grandchildren, Josi Jones and Tanner and Tristyn Williamson who completely hung the moon. Left to survive her legacy are her daughters and grands and sisters Maudie Maul and Bessie Kuhn. Nanny will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her, but will take comfort in knowing her spirit lives on and she finally got her golden wings.

Cremation under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren, Arkansas.
