Obituary for Elmer Nelson Walden

Elmer Nelson Walden, 84, of Rudy, Arkansas passed away Sunday, September 18, 2016 in a local hospital. A tribal member of the Cherokee Nation, as well as a decorated veteran of the Korean War. Elmer was a self-employed heavy construction equipment service repairman. Elmer will be remembered as a kind, calm,friendly man of reverence, love and devotion to the Lord God Almighty, his family and friends and his country. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and the Purple Heart Association of Fort Smith.

He was preceded in death by his parents Thomas and Elizabeth Walden of Chelsea, Oklahoma; siblings Jerry, May, James, Walter (Buster), Reverend Ray Walden; two grandsons Daniel Van Buskirk and John Davis.

Graveside service will be at 11:00 A.M Friday, September 23, 2016 at Morrison Cemetery in Rudy, Arkansas under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home in Van Buren, Arkansas.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years Frela Walden of the home; two daughters Debra Davis of Rudy, Arkansas and Brenda Van Buskirk of Arizona; one son Dwayne Nelson Walden of Rudy; three sisters Pauline Clifton of Porter, Texas, Ada Jo Maner of Pryor, Oklahoma and Sharon Fay Barnes of Chelsea, Oklahoma; seven brothers Carl Walden and Eugene Walden of Chelsea, Oklahoma, Danny Walden of Joplin, Missouri, Myrl Walden of Austin, Texas, Reverend Johnny Wayne Walden of Claremore, Oklahoma, Reverend Troy Walden of Chelsea, Oklahoma and Roy Walden of Big Cabin, Oklahoma; and many beloved and cherished grandchildren; great-grandchildren; great-great grandchildren; nieces, nephews and friends.

The family will visit with relatives and friends on Thursday, September 22, 2016 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at Ocker Funeral Home, 700 Jefferson Street, Van Buren, Arkansas.
