James Robert Owens, 86 of Van Buren passed away Friday June 24, 2016 in a local hospital. He was a retired truck driver from Jones Truck Lines in Fort Smith. He was U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War and a resident of Van Buren since 1956. He was of the Baptist faith.

Funeral service will be 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at Ocker Memorial Chapel in Van Buren with burial at U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith with military honors under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home in Van Buren, Arkansas.

He is survived by his wife, Theora (Brewer) Owens of the home; three daughters, Paula Chance of Lowell, Karen Walters of Van Buren, Leisha Spessard of Chester; one brother, Elvin Owens of Jacksonville, Florida; six grandchildren; three great- grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

The family will visit with relatives and friends Monday, June 27, 2016 from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at Ocker Funeral Home 700 Jefferson Street, Van Buren.

Pallbearers will be Michael Deffenbaugh, Brian Spessard, Jonathan Spessard, Robert House, Gary Dickens and Douglas Owens.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Ray House, Johnny House, Clayton Chance, Wayne Walters, Jerry Spessard, Steve Karber, J.A. Rainwater and Billy Walters.
