Obituary for Gwendolyn Mona Kerby (Bodine)

Gwendolyn Kerby of Van Buren passed away on Friday, May 13, 2016 at the age of 93. She was born April 6, 1923 in Van Buren to the late W.L. and Frances Bodine. While living in Michigan, she met and married Nathan Kerby, who just happened to be working for her carpenter father. They were married for 71 years when Nathan passed away.

She will be remembered for her gift of hospitality, always ready to fix a meal. Thanksgiving was the highlight of the year. She was an avid gardener, seamstress and artist, she loved competing, and winning blue ribbons at the Crawford County Fair.
She was preceded in death by her husband Nathan, and their beloved little daughter, Ramona.

She is survived by her daughter Shareen Hobbs and husband, Stephen of Van Buren; two sons, Alan Kerby of Henryetta, Oklahoma and Terry Kerby and his wife Phyllis, of Van Buren; six grandchildren Michael Kerby and wife Priti of Houston, Texas, Mark Kerby and wife Natalie of Henryetta, Oklahoma; Sage Hobbs and wife Naomi of Rincon, Puerto Rico, Amanda Harrison and husband Jeremy of Fort Smith, Eric Hobbs and wife Laura of Boulder, Colorado and Rebekah Bailey and husband Matt of Henryetta, Oklahoma; 10 great-grandchildren.

A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
