Obituary for Richard Harold Gattis

Richard H. Gattis, 60 of Cedarville passed away Wednesday, July29, 2015 at his home. He was a customs officer for the U.S. Government Custom and Border Protection; also retired from both the U.S. Navy and U.S. Coast Guard having obtained the rank of Chief Petty Officer in both branches. He was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Van Buren. He is preceded in death by his father, Vondon Harold Gattis.

Funeral service will be at 11 AM Monday, August 3, 2015 at the U.S. National Cemetery Pavilion in Fort Smith with military honors under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home in Van Buren.

He is survived by his wife, Dawn (Coursey) Gattis of the home; one daughter, Meghan O’Neill of Blaine, WA; two sons, Sean Gattis of Cedarville, Patrick Gattis of Blaine, WA; his mother, Marvell (Ball) Gattis of Fort Smith; two sisters, Sue Ellen Cates of Oklahoma, Debbie Stouffer of Fort Smith; two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
