George Richard Parson, 80, of Arkoma, Oklahoma passed away on Tuesday, February 24, 2015 in Arkoma. He was born on December 27, 1934 to Leonard and Grace Cartlidge Parsons. He was retired from Rheem Air Conditioning, a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War and a Baptist. He was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy in 2009, one son, Raymond Owen Parson; two sisters, Viola Brown and Jean Johnnico; two brothers, Homer Parson and Raymond Parsons.
He is survived by two daughters, Kimberly Howard of Arkoma and Lori Nester of Marshall, TX; one son George A. Parson of Arkoma; three brothers, William and Leonard Parsons both of Fort Smith and Thomas Parsons of Arkoma; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Graveside funeral service with military honors will be 10:00 a.m. Friday February 27, 2015 at U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Ocker-Putman Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
Pallbearers will be Cody Parson, Randy Howard, Caleb Nester, Dale Fry, Johnny Nester, Ronnie Crockett and Lewis Howard.
The Family will visit with friends from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Thursday at Ocker-Putman Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
