Obituary for Lena Mae Smith

Lena Mae  Smith
Lena Mae Smith, 101 of Van Buren entered heaven on Sunday, December 14, 2014. She was born on April 23, 1913, in Van Buren to Irene Amelia Craig Smith and John Smith. Lena Mae graduated from Van Buren High School and was a Navy WAVE during WWII. Following her two years of service, she completed secretarial school and went on to a 34 year career at Cooper Manufacturing in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Lena Mae was active in the Business and Professional Women on both a local and state level during her working career. She was a devoted member of Heritage United Methodist Church and although her health eventually prevented her from physically attending, Lena Mae continued to support her church with her prayers and tithes.

She is survived by her second cousin, Dr. Glenn Craig and his wife, Stacey; their daughters Elizabeth and Katy all of Tulsa, Oklahoma.

A celebration of life service will be held at Heritage United Methodist Church on Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. with Reverend Wesley Hilliard officiating. A private burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Van Buren.

Pallbearers will be Bob Freeman, Jack Infield, Bob Bretch, Peyton Miller, Mike Henson and Marvin Mendenhall.

Honorary pallbearers will be Heritage United Methodist Church Staff.

In Lieu of flowers, Lena Mae requested memorials be made to the Heritage United Methodist Church building fund @ 1604 Pointer Trail, Van Buren, Arkansas 72956
