Thomas A. “Tom” King, 89 years old, of Ft. Smith, Arkansas died Saturday November 8, 2014 after a long illness. He was born January 24, 1925 in Huntington, AR. He was a graduate of Mansfield High School and attended the University of Arkansas on a football scholarship. He was preceded in death by this Father and Mother, Oliver and Mamie Dickson King, Sister Dorothy Doughty, Brother Ralph King and a Niece Sharon Doughty. Mr. King retired from Mid-America Industries as Treasurer after 41 years of service. He was a member of the Westark Church of Christ. Tom was a volunteer for many years delivering Meals on Wheels from St. John’s Community Center
Survivors include his wife, Mary Jo, of the home to whom he had been married for 66 years. Children include Daughter Beverly Gibson and husband Gary of Houston, TX, Son Les King and wife Jeanneane of Muldrow, OK, Daughter Suzie Greer and husband Mark of White Hall, AR. Grandchildren include Katie Gibson and husband Seth of Houston, TX, Jenny Gibson of Dallas, TX, Matt Greer and wife Lindsey of Leachville, AR, Jake Greer and wife Tasha of Prairie Grove, AR, Justin King of Little Rock, AR, and Tyler King of Muldrow, OK, Sister in law Thelma Bradley of Jenny Lind, AR, Great Grandchildren include Josh and Lilly Greer of Prairie Grove, Ava and Liam Greer of Leachville, AR and Lucus Leventhal of Houston, TX.
Funeral Services will be held 2:00 P.M. Monday November 10, 2014 at Ocker-Putman Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Smith with burial to follow in Roselawn Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Matt and Jake Greer, Justin and Tyler King, Wes Robertson, David Holland, Rudy Gramlich and Ron Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Schulterman, Wade Coggins, Paul Shirley, Don Griffin, Dr. Jeff Ferrell and Bob Ercanbrack.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Children’s Home, Inc. 5515 Walcott Road. Paragould, AR 72450. There will be no set visitation.
