Alvin Glen Chitwood, 74, of Rudy, Arkansas passed away Sunday, August 31, 2014 in a local nursing home. He was a self employed carpet installer, and a member of First Baptist Church in Van Buren, Arkansas. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin Chitwood, Sr. and Vera Bolin Chitwood; one step-son, Robert Ware; and a sister, Mary Sue Chitwood.

Funeral Service will be 10 AM Thursday, September 4, 2014 at First Baptist Church Chapel in Van Buren with burial at Gracelawn Cemetery in Van Buren under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home in Van Buren.

Survivors are his wife, Gloria of the home; a daughter Melissa Chitwood of Van Buren; two sons, Kevin Chitwood and wife, Nikki of Van Buren and Tim Chitwood and wife, Lani of Fayetteville; one step-daughter, Angela Moore and husband, Thomas of Subiaco; one step-son, Jerrid Ware of Van Buren ; fourteen grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren; one niece Krissy Clif; and two nephews, Jeremy and Aaron White; one sister, Sarah White and husband, Ronnie of Plano, TX.

Pallbearers will be Thomas Moore, Donnie and Donald Dean, Shannon Darter, Trey Markham and Rob Flanagan.

Honorary pallbearers are Paul Toon and Jerry Toon.

The family will visit with relatives and friends Wednesday September 3, 2014 from 5 to 7 PM at Ocker Funeral Home, 700 Jefferson Street, Van Buren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to First Baptist Student or Children’s Ministry, at First Baptist Church, 1121 East Main Street, Van Buren, Arkansas 72956.
