Obituary for ImoJean Wilder (Walls)

ImoJean  Wilder (Walls)
ImoJean Walls Wilder, age 85, of Indianapolis, formerly of Fort Smith, Arkansas, died August 28, 2014. She was born at Cleveland, Arkansas, daughter of George Walls and Coma Wolverton Walls. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Pamela, and by her beloved husband of fifty-one years, the Reverend William M. Wilder. She attended Arkansas Tech and UCA and later graduated from the University of Arkansas.

Through the years she worked alongside her husband as they served Arkansas United Methodist Churches in Sherwood (Sylvan Hills); Lincoln; Van Buren (St.John's); Heber Springs; Fayetteville (Trinity); Marked Tree; Wynne; Forrest City and Jonesboro. ImoJean taught Sunday School and was a lifetime member of United Methodist Women. She was a dedicated member of the Builders Class of First United Methodist Church in Fort Smith. She taught in the public schools for 16 years and retired in Fort Smith along with her husband in 1989. In 2008 ImoJean moved to Indianapolis, Indiana and became a member of Greenwood United Methodist Church. She was devoted to her family and kept them in line as best she could.

She is survived by a son, W. Michael Wilder of Burlington, NC; daughters, Mary Wilder Cartwright of Nashville, IN; Jeannie Wilder Ayers of Franklin, TN; Elizabeth L. Wilder of North Potomac, MD; her sons-in-law, Michael Cartwright, Dan Ayers and Phil Smith; her sister Hester Henley of Morrilton, AR; grandchildren Jennie Wilder Kristiansen, Katy Wilder Schaaf, Jack Wilder, Julie Wilder, Hannah Cartwright, Erin Cartwright, Jamie Cartwright, Annie Riddle-Wilder, Bethany Cartwright, Emily Ayers, Elizabeth Ayers, Melody Riddle-Wilder, Abby Ayers and Greer Ayers, and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 2:00PM, Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at First United Methodist Church in the Roebuck Chapel with burial to follow in Forest Park Cemetery under the direction of Ocker-Putman Funeral Home of Fort Smith, Arkansas.

The family will visit with friends prior to the service from 12:30 PM till 2:00 PM at the church.
