Obituary for Rheual D. "Rick" Bailey

Rheual D. "Rick"  Bailey
R. D. "Rick" Bailey, 95, of Mulberry, Arkansas passed away on Sunday, August 3, 2014 in a local nursing home. He was a retired Truck Driver, he attended the Vine Prairie Baptist Church in Mulberry, a U. S. Army Veteran of World War II where he was a member of the 36th Infantry Division as a Medic. The 36th was the first American combat division to land on the continent of Europe. There they fought grueling campaigns in France, Italy and other European engagements. He served in Patton's Army under Commanding General Alexander "Sandy" Patch. Mr. Bailey received seven Major Battle ribbons and a Silver Star. The Silver Star is the third highest military decoration that can be awarded to a member of any branch of the U.S. armed forces for valor in the face of the enemy. He was the most highly decorated living World War II veteran in the State of Arkansas. He was born January 6, 1919 in Clarksville, Arkansas to the late Harvey and Nancy (Adams) Bailey. Preceded in death by his wife, Velta Jean (Blasingame) Bailey and a son, Jack Bailey.
Funeral service will be 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at Ocker Chapel of Alma with burial in New Cemetery with military honors. The family will visit with friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening, August 5, 2014 at Ocker Funeral Home of Alma, 917 Hwy. 64 East, Alma.
Survivors include two daughters, Theresa Williams and Ollivette Bailey both of Mulberry, AR; one son, Douglas Bailey of Spiro; 8 Grandchildren and numerous Great Grandchildren
Pallbearers will be Cody Bailey, Doug Clardy, Jeremy Brake, Jesse Williams, Audie Bailey

Honorary pallbearers will be Derek Morris and Lee Williams
